And the Flipped Classroom Begins

School is well under way and our flipped classroom teachers have begun introducing the project and the iPads to their students. The iPads won't be going home until the parents and students have attended an informational meeting a signed their agreements. But things are moving forward until then.

For now the both the teachers and the students are excited. As I visited one class on the first day of school the teacher said that she wasn't going to tell the students about the new learning model and each of them getting iPads but she just couldn't wait!

There is been a lot of activity with students learning how they will watch their home video assignments and respond through note taking and problem solving. They have also been exploring the different apps and ways to utilize them for learning.

This third grade classroom was practicing their math and reading skills in Study Island.

A fourth grade classroom has been doing "an app a day". On the day I visited they had used Educreations to practice making video tutorials. While I was there we learned how to "mirror" their iPads using the Apple TV.

Our first grade flipped class was reviewing the rules they had established for using the iPads in class before they explored the Doodle Buddy app. Most of these students had used the iAchieve iPod touches in Kindergarten and feel very comfortable with the iPads.
